Spaceroids

Role: Game Developer (Solo)
Engine: Game Maker

Spaceroids is a vertically scrolling shoot ’em up where the player must defend earth by destroying as many incoming asteroids as possible.

Spaceroids was a small side project game developed in 2011 in GameMaker and one of my earliest attempts at design a game. It reached the prototype stage. Screenshots of the GameMaker version can be seen below.

In 2015, the game was rebuilt in a new program as part of an assessment titled “Spaceroids: Processing Edition”. The new version was built in the program Processing utilizing the Java language. The new version featured better-looking aesthetics, sound effects, more background music, and an improved asteroid system. This new version received a 7. Screenshots from the Processing version can be seen below.

Spaceroids presents the most viable concept to be made into a mobile game. In its current stage, it is simple and fun to play, however further work is needed to polish and finish it off and export it to the mobile platform.
